Let’s talk about business mentoring in Scotland

Scottish Business Mentoring Website – Scottish Chambers of Commerce & Scottish Enterprise

Background

This project was commissioned by the Scottish Chamber of Commerce as part of a joint venture between Scottish Chambers of Commerce and Scottish Enterprise. The project brief was to design & develop a modern responsive website to support business mentoring in Scotland, one of the flagship projects for the Scottish Chambers of Commerce.

A key requirement of the website was to allow visitors to access resources and register their interest in the programme using online forms. In addition, the website had to be built using a content management system that allows updates to be made easily.

Business Mentoring in Scotland : Web Functionality

The website is aimed at those looking for business mentoring in Scotland as well as business people interested in mentoring other businesses. Therefore it was essential to build a members area login to access the business mentoring forum which provides extensive information on the Scottish Chamber and straightforward methods for their large and diverse customer base to interact with the site.

Customers can then use the online form to apply to become a business mentor or to receive business mentoring. Applications are then held for moderation before being approved and published on the website.

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)

During the website development stages, the Nexus team maintained the Search Engine Optimisation throughout and monitored various development and coding processes to ensure that the functionality is to the highest of standards.

Content Management Training

One of the key aspects for managing the business mentoring in Scotland website was the ability for the Scottish Chambers of Commerce team to be able to manage the content themselves. To make this possible we provided a series of training sessions with the team at their Glasgow offices. This covered the basics of using WordPress, good search engine optimisation (SEO) practices and some basic image editing.

The team at Nexus can provide a range of training sessions from updating social media and content writing to website maintenance and updating.

Final Thoughts

We were delighted when we were contacted by the Scottish Chambers of Commerce to tender for this project and even more so when we were successfully awarded the contract. This was our first project for a national body, something we embraced and we feel we certainly rose to the challenge. We approached the task with the passion and creativity, adhering to all time set time frames and the feedback we received was outstanding!
